Course description

Online course to help professionals with safeguarding children and young people from county lines and exploitation.

Awareness, prevention and early intervention are key in tackling county lines and child criminal exploitation. What seems like a small or isolated issue could be part of a bigger picture that a young person may be at risk of harm and need support.

Anyone who works, volunteers or comes into contact with children and young people is in a good position to notice and act on any concerns about their safety and wellbeing.

This online course will give you the knowledge you need to recognise the signs and indicators of county lines exploitation and respond appropriately.

By the end of the course you’ll be able to:

  • define what county lines is and who is affected
  • understand the grooming and entrapment process
  • recognise the signs that a child or young person may be experiencing county lines abuse
  • know how to respond and report concerns – including how to work with other agencies involved
  • know how to work with and support young people and their families.
