Gain the confidence you need to effectively identify mental health issues that may become safeguarding concerns and learn how to support and protect the children and young people you work with.
Schools play an important role in promoting and supporting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing. This online CPD certified training course focuses on the safeguarding and child protection concerns that can occur as a result of a child or young person struggling with their mental health.
As the UK’s experts on safeguarding, this elearning course will help you to identify safeguarding concerns, communicate effectively with children and young people to help keep them safe and create a safe culture in your school or college.
This course contains teaching pages, videos, example scenarios, reflective opportunities and quizzes to help consolidate your learning.
By the end of the course you will understand:
- your safeguarding and child protection responsibilities relating to mental health and emotional wellbeing
- how to identify and report concerns that might indicate mental health issues
- how negative experiences such as abuse and neglect can have an adverse impact on children's mental health and may lead to safeguarding and child protection issues
- the importance of empowering children and young people and listening to their views, needs and opinions
- how to discuss concerns and support children and young people with their emotional wellbeing
- how best to work with parents, carers and other agencies.
