Course description
Sports events, whether informal local games or major international tournaments, should be fun and enjoyable for children and young people. But if they aren't safe, or don't feel safe, then they're not going to have a good time.
This CPD certified online course covers everything you need to consider about safeguarding and child protection for sports events – including venues, activity providers, transport, staffing, first aid, inclusivity, partner organisations and evaluating other safeguarding risks (such as during downtime or overnight stays).
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Understand the principles of planning and delivering a safe event and key aspects of safeguarding and child protection
- Assign event safeguarding child protection roles and responsibilities
- Prepare and plan practice considerations and recognise activities that may present additional challenges and risks
- Recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns
- Share good practice examples and tried and tested ways of fulfilling safeguarding and child protection responsibilities

Our courses are compatible with most tablet devices, however the NSPCC does not provide full technical support for tablet users. We do not support other mobile devices.
